Research Interests

Currently I am collecting data on several cross cultural aspects of risk awareness for disasters. Data is from disabled and non-disabled subjects worldwide, US, Europe and developing countries. My current research interest is concerned with developing ways to measure, understand, and improve learning and perception for physical, cognitive, or situational disabilities.

Since 1983, I have been an independent consultant and have conducted internally funded research on topics ranging from an update of the Skinner Air Crib to design of computer-based medical records. Throughout my work, I have maintained an emphasis on the application of fundamental learning theories to a variety of domains.

Teaching Experience

In 2005 I will be teaching the Learning and Memory class  at Rider University, Lawrenceville, New Jersey.  I will also be teaching a Seminar on College Prep to International Students at Mercer County Community College.  My research is concerned with Cross Cultural Issues so that both classes speak to this research.  Since 2002, I have been a Adjunct Professor of Psychology at Mercer County Community College and regularly teach Introduction to Psychology, Personality Theory, Child and Developmental Psychology. At Mercer, my students represent a diverse population and include many international students. My approach to teaching is to focus on psychology as a science, and to draw upon the latest research and real world examples to highlight fundamental principles. A sample of my excellent classroom evaluation results is available upon request.

While a PhD candidate at St Louis University I taught Physiological Psychology, and as a Masters candidate I taught Biology in the St. Louis University Biology Department, in partnership with the Saint Louis Zoo for field observations and the lecture/lab section.

Research and Technical Skills:

Behavioral analysis of classically conditioned responses, sign tracking, avoidance responses and instrumental responses; neurobehavioral testing of humans; experimental design, equipment design and experimental control programming; computer data analysis and programming; electroencephalographic recording; HTML content design and development; computer-based graphic design; electronic publishing.
