 Course Overview

Introduction to the general principles that influence behavior, presented in three modules: module one involves history of psychology, research methods, learning, and retention; module two describes the nervous system, sensation, perception, development, maturation, and heredity; module three consists of personality theory, the study of groups, and attitude formation.lecture hours

This syllabus is to be used as a guide.  It is the responsibility of each student to fully understand each requirement stated within; if you do not, please ask meThe syllabus is subject to change.  Please bring it with you to each class along with the required text.

Attendance

  Attendance is expected.  Each test will be primarily based on material covered in class. Talking is not permitted; you must leave the class if you decide to talk.

You are responsible for all material covered in the required readings, class discussions, and handouts.

Test & Final Exam

Test will be given in the Testing Center in the Liberal Arts Building.You will have over one week to take any test so that we maximize our class sessions and provide enough outside class time to accommodate your individual schedules.

How your Final grade is determined

  Grading:
20% each��� Test grades 3 tests � total (60%)

10%���� Presentation/ (2 students working together10 � 15 minutes)  

30%���� Final Test: Mixed Format with multiple choice and essay on material from lecture and text

Extra Credit paper possible to help with someone in need of improving your grade MAX 10%

Total Possible points 100%

        Extra Credit Paper option is to help boost student�s grades if they fall below 100%.For example, if you have a 75% you can add up to 10% to your grade, by doing an extra credit paper resulting in an 85%. See me to discuss in detail

Extra Credit Paper Topics:  Write a paper on any area of Psychology you are interested in or you can describe a Psychology experiment you participated in.Tell all you understand about the experiment, what they were looking at, did you think it could be improved? Compare two experiments.  Which is the better experiment in your opinion? Defend your statements.  Etc.

Do not plagiarize! Avoid this by using quotation marks and adding the name of the author or the web address at the end of the paper.
